Chery’s fourth new model in Australia will be its cheapest yet, and it has budget-friendly SUVs like the MG ZS, Hyundai Venue and Mitsubishi ASX in its sights.

The 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is due here in October, with a base price of less than $24,000 drive-away.

It’ll be offered in Urban and Ultimate trims, with final pricing and specifications to be confirmed closer to the vehicle’s launch.

However, Chery has said the Tiggo 4 Pro will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, heated front seats, LED headlights, seven airbags, and “an impressive array” of driver assistance features.

Powering the Tiggo 4 Pro is a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 108kW of power and 210Nm of torque.

The Chery range currently opens with the recently introduced FX trim of the Omoda 5, priced at $27,990 drive-away. This features the same engine as the Tiggo 4 Pro.

As with all other Cherys, the Tiggo 4 Pro will come backed with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and seven years of capped-price servicing.

Chery Australia has released only a single image of the model of the Tiggo 4 Pro, but it’s understood to be an updated, export version of the Chinese-market Tiggo 5x, which was launched in 2017 and has been facelifted a handful of times.

Malaysian outlet paultan.org shared images of the updated model at the 2024 Chery International Business Conference in April, revealing a more modern-looking interior.

In addition to the exterior changes visible in Chery Australia’s photo, the refreshed SUV also features a restyled C-pillar treatment and a full-width light bar.

The current Tiggo 5x is sold in myriad global markets, including in Africa and South America.

The pre-facelift model measures 4358mm long, 1830mm wide and 1670mm tall on a 2630mm wheelbase.

That makes it 44mm longer, 21mm wider and 26mm taller than an MG ZS on a 45mm longer wheelbase.

The top-selling ZS is the Chery’s biggest threat, and is priced at $23,990 drive-away. A new generation is due this year, and it’s unclear if it will come with a price hike.
