Deepal has confirmed specifications for the S07 electric SUV, which is due in Australian showrooms in late November.
The S07 will hit the market as a mid-sized rival to the top-selling Tesla Model Y, as well as the Chery Omoda E5 and Kia EV5, among others, with a single variant to be initially offered only via dealers in Sydney and Melbourne.
While vehicle details were confirmed at Deepal’s local brand launch in Sydney on Tuesday night, pricing information won’t be revealed until the Sydney International EV Show in early November.
The S07 will launch in Australia with a 160kW/320Nm single electric motor, and a 79.97kWh battery giving it 475km of claimed range. Power is sent to the rear wheels only.

On the outside, Deepal’s debut model in Australia features sporty lines and bright paint colour choices. Inside, the S07 blends the flowing design and unique materials of BYD with Tesla minimalism.
The cabin centres around a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can rotate left or right by 15 degrees to offer “better viewing angles”.
Other statement features include a gesture control system that allows passengers to control various functions like music, calls, and an in-cabin camera using hand gestures.
The S07 ditches traditional instrument clusters for an augmented reality head-up display that projects navigation directions, vehicle speed, and ADAS data onto the windshield.
Immersive cabin experience ‘modes’ and an exterior light show that syncs to the beat of your music round out the quirky inclusions.
The Deepal S07 comes standard with a seven-year, 160,000-kilometre warranty, and an eight-year, 240,000-kilometre battery warranty.
Drivetrains and Efficiency
Just one variant will be available at launch, employing a single-motor electric powertrain.
Australian-spec S07s will feature a 160kW/320Nm rear-mounted electric motor paired with a 79.97kWh ternary lithium battery, for a claimed range of 475km.
In its home market, the S07 is offered with a 190kW electric motor, and the choice of 66.8kWh and 79.87kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.
Deepal also offers the S07 with a range-extender powertrain in China, featuring a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Servicing and Warranty
Deepal’s Australian distributor, Inchcape, has not yet released aftersales information for the Deepal S07, including service intervals and any capped-price servicing plans that may be available.
Deepal will launch in Australia with a seven-year, 160,000-kilometre vehicle warranty, which grows to eight years and 240,000km for the EV battery.
Inchcape will initially service customers in Sydney and Melbourne, with Deepal’s expansion dependant on demand.
“The network will start in key areas that focus on EV sales, so we’ll start in Sydney and Melbourne, and look to grow as the demand is there,” said Deepal Australia general manager, Cormac Cafolla.
Further information on the Deepal dealer network will be announced in addition to pricing at the Sydney International EV Show, scheduled for November 8-10.
