The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been updated overseas for the second time in six months, and Australian customers will see the changes in local showrooms next year.

In April, Ford announced the Mustang Mach-E had gained a tweaked rear electric motor which not only produces more torque but provides greater driving range.

Now an even more comprehensive update has been unveiled, bringing a standard heat pump, a revised cabin, and optional appearance packages in the US.

“The updated MY25 Mustang Mach-E will arrive in Australia in the second half of 2025. We look forward to confirming exact specifications closer to launch,” a Ford Australia spokesperson told CarExpert.

That arrival time means Australians will get all the upgrades for the electric SUV in one hit.

Until then, the Mustang Mach-E remains unchanged from its local launch.

The biggest change under the skin to the revised Mustang Mach-E is its heat pump, which helps to improve efficiency – and therefore potentially extend driving range – in cold weather.

Inside, the electric SUV’s gear selector has now moved to the steering column, replacing its old location in the centre console, freeing up more storage space behind the front cupholders.

Premium grades also now get ventilated front seats.

Additional cosmetic changes include the inclusion of a new Sport Appearance Package, which can bring some of the Mustang Mach-E GT’s exterior design elements and Brembo brakes to the Premium variant one rung below.

Ford is also bringing more paint finishes to the electric SUV’s palette, such as Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat (pictured), Velocity Blue Metallic, and Desert Sand – the latter two of which are shared with the petrol-powered Mustang coupe.

Ford has launched its latest BlueCruise 1.5 semi-autonomous driver assist technology on the Mustang Mach-E, which can now perform lane changes if the vehicle ahead is slower than the set speed or if a vehicle is following too closely in the passing lane.

Despite all the upgrades, the Mustang Mach-E has received a US$3500 (A$5235) price cut in the US, leading to a new starting figure of US$36,495 (A$54,600).

In Australia, the Mustang Mach-E’s entry price has been slashed twice, with the current $64,990 before on-road costs figure for the base Select a whole $15,000 less than when local pricing was first announced.

It’s too early to tell whether this will happen again with the updated model.

The segment-leading Tesla Model Y has held a steady $55,900 before on-roads sticker for months after multiple price cuts, and has continued to drop in sales compared to the previous year.
