Genesis’ first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) is due for an upgrade, and photographers have spied a disguised model with revised interior and exterior looks.
The Genesis GV60 launched in 2021 and was the luxury brand’s first EV built on parent group Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP architecture, which also underpins the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Now three years into its life cycle, work is well underway on an updated version which appears to not only bring fresh aesthetics, but also an expected boost in performance, driving range, and charging speeds when it launches next year.
While the updated model was spied sporting an obtrusive black cloak, it’s still possible to make out a new front bumper and updated headlight units with smaller LED lights over the current version.
Changes to the rear appear to be less pronounced and are more difficult to make out, though the test model was spotted with a new alloy wheel design which will join the list of exterior cosmetic tweaks.
The new car’s interior looks largely identical to the current model, except for a small tweak to the shape of the steering wheel’s centre piece that now mimics the front grille signature, with a third spoke also added and the bottom now flattened.
Otherwise, the GV60 retains its dual-screen infotainment and instrument cluster setup, wide centre console with ornate dials, and unique diagonal displays connected to cameras in place of traditional side mirrors.
The current GV60 is available in two all-wheel drive variants, a base model and the flagship Performance grade.
The standard AWD features a 74kW front and 160kW rear motor, combining for a total power output of 234kW and 605Nm of torque.
Performance AWD models feature 180kW motors on both axles for a total output of 360kW, alongside a combined peak torque figure of 700Nm.
In the GV60 Performance AWD’s Boost Mode, which primes the motors to provide peak output for 10 seconds, it can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.0 seconds.
Both models feature a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and the two have a claimed WLTP range of 470km and 466km respectively.
The current GV60 will set you back $107,700 before on-roads for the AWD, which extends to $114,700 before on-roads for the Performance AWD.
Genesis has also confirmed a hotter version of the electric SUV – aptly called the GV60 Magma – is due to enter production next year, expected to boast power outputs to rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and the Kia EV6 GT.
