It’s now more expensive than ever to buy a Honda Civic in Australia, with the hatchback going hybrid-only locally, as prices start from almost $50,000.

Gone is the petrol-powered Civic VTi LX from the lineup, with the new e:HEV L taking its place in the range, slotting in below the existing e:HEV LX.

Priced from $49,900 drive-away, the Honda Civic e:HEV L is $2700 dearer than the petrol model it replaces as the entry point to the lineup, while the LX has undergone a $900 price increase to now start from $55,900.

The flagship high-performance Civic Type R is counted by Honda as a separate model, so isn’t included in the 2025 model year (MY25) update.

As reported last month, the facelifted Civic range has benefitted from the fitment of a larger 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster on both hybrid variants (the base petrol made do with a 9.0-inch unit) while its 9.0-inch touchscreen now has Google built-in.

This allows drivers to use embedded Google apps on the 9.0-inch touchscreen such as Google Assistant and Google Maps, as well as download more applications through the Google Play Store.

A carryover 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric continuously variable transmission (e-CVT), incorporating two electric motors, powers the Civic, producing 135kW and 315Nm, with a claimed fuel consumption of 4.2L/100km.
