Kia Australia has confirmed pricing and detailed specifications for its EV5, publishing the new mid-sized electric SUV’s brochure on its website.

UPDATE, 23/10/2024 – We’ve updated this article with service pricing and pulled it forward. Our launch review of the EV5 is also now live.

Four distinct trim levels will be available in Australia from launch, including Standard and Long Range battery variants as well as single-motor and dual-motor electric drivetrains. Single-motor versions are front-wheel drive.

The EV5 rides on what Kia calls N3 eK, which CarExpert understands is a heavily reworked N3 chassis – currently the basis of vehicles like the Sportage and Sorento – which incorporates a 400V iteration of the E-GMP dedicated electric vehicle toolkit.

Pricing, as confirmed last week, will kick off from a sharp $56,770 drive-away for the entry-level Air 2WD Standard Range. The flagship GT-Line AWD Long Range (arriving December) tops out at $75,990 drive-away.

For reference, that undercuts the top-selling Tesla Model Y ($55,900-$82,900 before on-road costs), as well as Kia’s own smaller Niro EV ($66,590-$72,360 before on-road costs).

All versions of the 2025 Kia EV5 also utilise lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries sourced from Chinese electrified specialist BYD, with Australian-market vehicles being sourced from Kia’s new Yancheng factory in China.

At 4615mm long and 1874mm wide, the EV5 45mm shorter and 9mm wider than the popular Sportage. The EV5’s 2750mm wheelbase is 5mm shy of its petrol, diesel and hybrid-powered stablemate.
