Audi’s next-generation Q7 three-row SUV is right around the corner, and it’s been spied undergoing winter testing in Europe.

Unlike the sightings CarExpert published in February and April of 2024, our photographers have now managed to capture the all-new Q7 in great detail – giving us our first look at the tail light signature.

At the rear of the new SUV are boomerang-shaped LED tail lights connected by a full-width light bar. The upper part of the tail lights has a segmented look similar to other current Audis.

It’s still expected the third-generation Q7 will debut sometime this year as a 2026 model.

Up front, the grille has a mesh insert similar to that of the recently updated current-generation Q7.

The bottom section of the bumper also now features two diagonal elements, which are still wrapped in camouflage.

As with other recent Audi products like the Q6 e-tron electric SUV, there are split-level lighting elements up front.

The new Q7 retains similarly tall and boxy exterior proportions to the outgoing model to help accommodate the third row of seating.

It’s expected Audi’s new interior design language will feature, with a free-standing infotainment touchscreen instead of one more neatly integrated into the centre stack.

As with the Q6 e-tron, the next Q7 may also offer a separate display for the front passenger.

We anticipate a range of petrol and diesel engines will still be offered with the new model, all with 48V mild-hybrid technology.

A plug-in hybrid option, which isn’t sold in Australia with the current Q7, is also expected to continue, but we don’t expect an electric option to be offered.

The current Q7 and SQ7 received minor updates in Australia in the second half of 2024, which brought updated front and rear styling with restyled head- and tail lights.

Powertrains are unchanged, with a pair of turbo-diesel V6s and a turbo-petrol V6 available in Australia, while the sportier SQ7 packs a twin-turbo petrol V8.

In 2024, Audi sold 940 Q7 and SQ7 examples in Australia, down from 1961 in 2023. It still outsold the Volvo XC90 (856) but remained behind other rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE (1485) and BMW X5 (3157).

The current Q5 is now a decade old, having entered production in 2015.
