Skoda’s next seven-seat SUV, featuring electric power, has been spied testing in Europe ahead of an expected 2026 launch.

Known for now as the Skoda Space, it was first teased as the Vision 7S concept in 2022, which previewed a 4.9m-long seven-seat SUV.

The larger, electric sibling to the Skoda Kodiaq will be the Czech brand’s latest model to adopt its new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, which debuted on the smaller Skoda Elroq electric SUV and made its way onto the recently facelifted Enyaq.

While this example caught testing is covered in camouflage, the pre-facelift Enyaq behind it shows how it’ll depart from the current design of Skoda’s SUVs.

This includes the ‘Tech-Deck Face’, which incorporates a significantly smaller grille compared to the current lineup and hides the vehicle’s sensors, with thin LED headlights flanking it.

It appears the Space will also adopt the Elroq’s angled lower apron and air skirts to deflect the wind around its body, making it more aerodynamic.

The rear design is also difficult to see, however it looks like the Space will get thin tail lights and a spoiler over its rear window, at least on certain grades.

Skoda’s Vision 7S oncept included unique 22-inch wheels and rear coach doors, though it’s not clear whether these will carry across to the production model.

When Skoda previewed its interior, a 14.6-inch touchscreen sat in between the driver and passenger, and could be mounted vertically or horizontally.

It also included an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, an augmented-reality head-up display, rectangular two-spoke steering wheel, as well as an integrated child seat on the second-row centre console.

Though Skoda has yet to detail technical details for the seven-seat electric SUV, it’s expected to be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform.

Other MEB-based models include the Enyaq, the Volkswagen ID.4 and Cupra Born, among others.

The Skoda Enyaq is currently the only EV the brand sells in Australia, with 48 examples delivered in 2024 after a late-year launch.
