Australian startup EVX has extended its coverage with nine new electric car charging locations in Sydney.
The 22kW AC chargers are now available to use in Millers Point, Dawes Point, Pyrmont, Newtown, Camperdown, Darlinghurst, Alexandria, Rosebery and Glebe.
EVX has joined forces with the City of Sydney council and Ausgrid to deploy the locally developed chargers.
“We’re proud of this partnership and are thrilled to be able to supply such a crucial component of our community’s EV charging needs,” said EVX CEO, Andrew Forster.
“Areas of urban Sydney with little or no off-street parking will greatly benefit from this fundamental infrastructure, and these new chargers have been strategically located to serve these communities.”
The company, which was co-founded by two electricians, had its first pole-mounted charging point installed in Glebe earlier this year.
“Being able to install these new chargers in just a week shows that rapid deployment of new kerbside charging infrastructure is possible to meet the rising demand,” said Mr Forster.
“We need to be ready for the increase in uptake over the next decade. Pole-mounted chargers are a no-brainer when it comes to the rapid deployment of EV charging infrastructure, particularly in Australian cities where aboveground electricity infrastructure is the norm.”
The chargers are located at the following locations:
- 16 Kent Street, Millers Point
- 12 Trinity Avenue, Dawes Point
- 55 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont
- 8 Brown Street, Newtown
- 15 Carillon Avenue, Camperdown
- 3-19 Yurong Street, Darlinghurst
- 2 Huntley Street, Alexandria
- 27 Morley Avenue, Rosebery
- 75 St Johns Road, Glebe.
EVX currently charges $0.50 per kWh. To use its charging network, customers are required to download the company’s EVX Australia app.
