If you’re buying a car in Victoria, you can now access a detailed report that can tell you everything you need to know about the vehicle to minimise the risk of making an expensive mistake.
VicRoads now offers used car buyers an extensive vehicle report, designed to help motorists avoid unforeseen issues that may occur post-purchase.
The VicRoads Vehicle Report includes data about the vehicle’s transfer and registration history, previous roadworthy results, recorded odometer readings, and safety and emission ratings.
The report also includes an official Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) certificate, confirming if the vehicle has been stolen or written off, and if any money is owing on it.
Additionally, it also presents buyers with recent sales prices for similar vehicles in the last three months.
VicRoads hopes the report will help reduce the stress in buying a car and provide customers with a more holistic picture of a vehicle’s condition, value and safety.
The vehicle history report is currently the only one available in Victoria that includes accurate VicRoads information.
It’s available to purchase and download for $27.65 (including GST) via the VicRoads website.
The report is also available to secondhand car dealers, covering cars, motorcycles, caravans, trailers and heavy vehicles.
Victoria isn’t the first to introduce such a report.
New South Wales has a vehicle history report – priced at $23 – which provides buyers with the last three odometer readings of a vehicle, as well as its registration history and whether it has ever been written off or stolen.
