The Leapmotor C10 is gaining the option of partial petrol power in key export markets such as Europe and Australia.
Currently the Leapmotor C10 is only sold in Australia as an electric vehicle (EV), however co-parent Stellantis has confirmed it’ll launch the new C10 REEV (Range Extender Electric Vehicle) in the first half of 2025, with more information to come in the coming months.
While the Leapmotor C10 has been available as an EV and REEV (or EREV) in China, European export versions – sold by Leapmotor International, a joint venture with Stellantis – are only now gaining the option of combined petrol and electric power.

Unlike the standard C10 which uses a 160kW electric motor and a 69.9kWh battery pack, the C10 REEV downsizes to a smaller 28.4kWh unit, which can be recharged by an onboard 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine when it runs out of energy.
A 158kW electric motor features in the C10 REEV.
There are a handful of hybrid vehicles in Australia which use a similar layout where the wheels are driven by electric motors but the battery can be charged by a petrol engine – such as the Nissan X-Trail e-Power – however they can’t be externally charged.
Drivers can choose whether to run in electric-only mode or have the petrol engine provide charge via an ‘Energy Mode’ selection.
Leapmotor claims 145km of electric-only driving range on the European WLTP cycle, down from the 420km figure of EV versions. However when the petrol engine and battery work together, it can achieve up to 950km of range.
Under the same lab test cycle, the C10 REEV has a claimed fuel consumption of just 0.4L/100km and emits only 10g/km of CO2.
The C10 REEV can be AC and DC charged, the latter of which Leapmotor claims can see it “recover half of its electric range in just 18 minutes” on a 65kW fast-charger.
Stellantis Australia hasn’t yet locked in pricing for the Leapmotor C10 REEV, which will be the first range-extender to be offered alongside a traditional EV version of the same model in Australia since the BMW i3.
The Leapmotor C10 EV is currently priced from $47,500 drive-away until March 31.
In Australia, Leapmotor offers a seven-year, 160,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year, 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty.
