You asked for it – here is our full breakdown of EV running costs!
Sean, Scott, and James compare the GWM Ora, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV9, and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid across insurance, tyres, charging/fuel, servicing and even look into resale values.
We also chat to Paul about his EV ownership experience.
If you’re struggling to wrap your head around all these numbers, you can peruse the figures in the tables below.
Insurance
We calculated insurance costs for a 40 year-old male living in Mascot, NSW with a clean driving history. We’ve offered both the market and agreed values, the vehicle is garaged and used privately. It’s driven 10,000km per year and used three-four days per week.
Each insurance option is the base comprehensive option, with no additional packages.
Charging and fuel costs
We’ve offered a breakdown of home charging costs using three different energy providers, using their electric-specific plans or their regular rates for reference.
Resale value
Data for the GWM Ora is limited, as is the case with the Kia EV9 and Tesla Model Y.
Service costs
Each of these cars has a different capped-price service plan.
Tyres
The cost of tyres is always important, given they’re the only thing keeping your car in contact with the road.
