Porsche has teased the first image of what it’s calling “the first GT model of the new 911 generation” ahead of its global debut later this week.
Due to be revealed on October 19 at 3:30am AEDT, Porsche says the new high-performance model will be launched with two variants, both of which will be even more exhilarating, individual and innovative than their predecessors.
No other details have yet been announced, but judging by the prominent rear wing and rollcage clearly visible in Porsche’s shadowy side profile teaser image, it’s almost certain it will be the upgraded 999.2-series 911 GT3, alongside the replacement for either the wingless GT3 Touring or the hardcore GT3 RS.

Of course, there’s an outside chance Porsche could reveal a new-generation 911 GT2 RS flagship this week, given a born-again version of the most extreme road-going 911 is expected to appear in the second half of the existing 992-series lifecycle, and a mule has been spied testing.
The facelifted 992.2 range was revealed earlier this year, in entry-level Carrera and racy GTS forms, the latter fitted with Porsche’s innovative new T-Hybrid powertrain, marking the German performance car maker’s first electrified 911.
The first GT version of the latest 911 will have big shoes to fill, and its racetrack intentions are clear from the helmeted driver that appears in the smoky teaser image.
Porsche’s existing GT3 RS is the brand’s most formidable street-legal 911 ever, with a 386kW/465Nm naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat six and a motorsport-style aero package making it a bona-fide racer for the road. Despite a price tag of $539,100 before on-road costs, it was also a sellout.
Even in standard form, the sixth-generation 991.1 GT3 coupe packs 375kW at a lofty 8400rpm, and is available in both manual and dual-clutch PDK automatic guises, priced from $417,400 before on-road costs.
Porsche says its successor will be presented later this week by GT model line director Andreas Preuninger, alongside brand ambassadors Walter Röhrl and Jörg Bergmeister.
