Sam Konstas rose to stardom on Boxing Day after scoring 60 runs on debut for the Australian test cricket team, and fans have been eager to get the 19-year-old rising star’s signature.

But some are more keen than others, with one man’s exuberance leading to his new Toyota LandCruiser Prado and an innocent bystander’s Mitsubishi Lancer being damaged.

Footage uploaded to Instagram (click the embed below) by the Sydney Thunder – Konstas’ Big Bash League team – shows the test opener arriving at Cricket Central in Sydney Olympic Park, where a fan spots him walking into the facility with his kit bag.

In his haste to try and get an autograph from Konstas, the driver reverse-parks the Prado into a disabled spot, before hopping out of the car – seemingly accidentally putting it into Drive rather than Park.

As he nears Konstas, the owner looks back to see his car creeping forwards, though despite his best efforts he didn’t get to it in time to stop it running into a Lancer at low speed.

Thankfully there were no injuries, apart from to the Prado owner’s ego.

Ironically, Toyota is a major sponsor of Cricket Australia, and its logo was worn by Konstas in the two tests he played for the test team against India.
