Toyota is famed for making reliable vehicles, with some going as far to say they’re bulletproof and can take on anything.
Canadian armoured vehicle firm Inkas has that idiom a reality by literally bulletproofing the new 250 Series LandCruiser Prado and its luxurious Lexus GX twin.
Both SUVs have been extensively modified to be rated as BR6 armour level vehicles, the highest level available for civilians without permits.

Key upgrades include ‘360-degree’ perimeter protection, which encapsulates the cabin in a material which can protect its occupants from ballistic fire.
There’s also military-grade ballistic glass, a ballistic door overlap system – preventing ammo from penetrating the seams of the doors – a rear bulkhead partition and additional fuel tank protection.
The 20-inch wheels also feature military-grade run-flat tyres, which have solid polycarbonate inserts to allow the SUVs to keep driving if the wheels are punctured.
According to Inkas, the Prado and GX can sustain fire from 7.62mm assault rifle rounds, or handle two DM51 hand grenade blasts.
The company also offers additional equipment to further enhance the level of protection to the Prado and GX, which includes engine bay armouring, a roof escape hatch, a CCTV and GPS system, oxygen filtration and night vision cameras.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen a Toyota bulletproofed, as the car giant offers the service in-house in Brazil for the HiLux, Corolla, Corolla Cross, and Fortuner.
