How does the 2024 Polestar 2 drive?
Our expert take on Polestar 2 drivability.
The 2024 Polestar 2 offers a choice of three electric powertrains.
Single-motor variants get a new, more powerful electric motor with 220kW and 490Nm – up from 170kW and 330Nm, respectively. That reduces the 0-100km/h time by 1.2 seconds to 6.2 seconds.
Dual-motor variants now have a rear-wheel bias “that increases driving pleasure and performance”, with the rear motor now the primary drive source. It’s joined by a new asynchronous motor on the front axle which can be disengaged when not needed.
Outputs are increased from 300kW and 660Nm to 310kW and 740Nm, and the 0-100km/h claim is 4.5 seconds.
With the Performance Pack, power is bumped up to 350kW and the 0-100km/h time is cut to 4.2 seconds. This extra grunt can also be purchased and download over-the-air on any eligible Long Range Dual Motor vehicles.
There’s a new 82kWh battery for Long Range models sourced from CATL, with DC charging speed now up to 205kW – up from 155kW. The base battery continues to be a 69kWh unit, but it’s now supplied by LG Chem.
Range is up by 58km in the Standard Range Single Motor, 114km in the Long Range Single Motor, and 111km in the Long Range Dual Motor.
