Nissan Australia has expanded the range of locally made accessories on offer to Navara buyers.

The brand has added an Electric Roll Top Cover ($3806.74) and an Electric Roll Top Cover with Sports Bar ($4009.73) to the range of dealer-fit accessories on offer for its dual-cab ute.

It’s also added a central locking option for the rear tailgate on the Navara, priced at $459.47.

They’re supplied by local brand HSP, and can be operated using an app, buttons on the side of the roll cover, or the vehicle key.

The new accessories join Nissan’s range of dealer-fit add-ons for the Navara amid strong demand for locally developed parts; the brand claims 74 per cent of its accessory revenue for the ute comes from products made in Australia.

Not all accessories are created equal, however. Where anything from the Nissan Genuine catalogue is backed by the same five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty as new Nissan cars, the HSP roll top range is backed by a three-year warranty provided by HSP.

“We know how important accessories are to our Navara owners, which is why we’re always looking to grow our extensive catalogue with options that make Navara ownership even more rewarding,” said Nissan Oceania after sales director, Michael Hill.

Accessories are a new battleground in the hotly contested ute space.

The aftermarket is chock full of manufacturers competing for cash from buyers keen to make their ute tougher, or more capable, or more unique to look at. Recently, OEMs have become more creative in their bids to cash in.

Ford Australia offers a range of ARB accessories for the Ranger and Everest through its dealers, and has rolled out a range of special edition models across both vehicle lines with extra off-road equipment.

Toyota offers heavily accessorised versions of the HiLux, while Nissan has the Navara PRO-4X Warrior and SL Warrior that have been given the off-road treatment by Premcar.
